The Como Motel has been a Richardson, TX landmark for some 70 years.  It infamously served as a little love nest for Candy Montgomery of Wylie, whose story of love and murder was told in the HBO series Love & Death.

These days, the Como Motel serves as a reminder of the past, but there is a strong collection of individuals who wish the building be preserved for generations.

We'll see if they get their wish with this recent news: the company behind Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Pappasito's, and other restaurants has recently purchased the historic motel.

Pappas Restaurants said in a statement per Texas Monthly, "Our primary goal in purchasing the property is to make the area more secure for the safety of our guests, team members, and neighbors.

"We have yet to formalize any plans for development or demolition and are interested in hearing proposals for developing the property."

An online petition to save the Como Motel currently sits at over 4,800 signatures.
