Rick Astley has one of the most recognizable voices in music, mainly thanks to his beloved hit ‘Never Gonna Give You Up.’ Of course, the internet has made sure multiple generations know the voice, with the popular internet trend “Rickrolling.” However, it appears Astley believes things have officially been taken too far, as the artist recently filed a lawsuit against Yung Gravy, claiming the rapper impersonated his voice on a new song.

The latest music lawsuit is one not many were expecting, as Rick Astley is suing Yung Gravy, real name Matthew Raymond Hauri, and vocal impersonator Nick Seeley, for conspiring “to include a deliberate and nearly indistinguishable imitation of … Astley’s voice throughout the song.” According to Page Six, the song in question is Yung Gravy’s song ‘Betty (Get Money)’ which was released in June 2022.

While Yung Gravy did license the instrumental part of ‘Never Gonna Give You Up,’ Astley claims he did not give the rapper or anyone on his team permission to use or impersonate his voice. The lawsuit is seeking millions as Astley says it is preventing him collaborating with other artists in the future. Sadly, it seems like a Rick Astley and Yung Gravy song will never happen now.
