David Bowie received many accolades throughout his career, and while he passed away in 2016, the artist has continued to be honored for his work. Now, Bowie has received yet another tribute, as The Royal Mint recently unveiled a series of David Bowie commemorative coins. As part of the "music legends" collection, one of the Bowie coins was even launched into space.
The David Bowie series of coins features an image of the musician from his formative years, along with his iconic lightning bolt design from 'Aladdin Sane.' Celebrating Bowie's "Starman" persona, one of the coins was even launched into space, spending 45 minutes orbiting the Earth's atmosphere. That coin is currently being offered as a prize on the Royal Mint's Facebook page.
The collection comes with a variety of different coins with different prices. Many fans quickly jumped at the chance to add to their Davie Bowie memorabilia collections. With all the Bowie items that have been launched into space, many aliens are likely Bowie fans now too.
