For years, hamburgers reigned supreme as the quintessential American cuisine. However, in recent years there has been a takeover, as more and more chicken restaurants pop up all over the country. Of course, any time a restaurant expands to new territory one of the first places they look is Texas.
Now, yet another popular chicken chain is making its way to the Lone Star state, but this one is backed by someone who definitely fits the “everything’s bigger in Texas” motto.

Former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal recently announced plans to expand his ‘Big Chicken’ restaurant, with 50 new locations coming to Texas. “Big Chicken is exactly the kind of brand that succeeds in Texas: pioneering and bold, yet rooted in delicious tradition,” said Emily Williams Knight, president and CEO of the Texas Restaurant Association. According to Dallas Observer, the Big Chicken menu includes chicken sandwiches, tenders, Cheez-It crusted mac n’ cheese, hand-crafted ice cream shakes and more.

There is even a sandwich named after O’Neal’s ‘NBA on TNT’ co-host, Charles Barkley. It is unknown at this time when the DFW Big Chicken location is expected to open. Now that Shaq is coming to Texas, the Lone Star state may not be able to get any bigger.
