There are few things that beat ending a long, hard day at work than kicking back in your favorite chair with a nice beverage. Sometimes two or three beverages.
A new study from 24/7 Tempo, a financial news website, set out to find the drunkest cities in each state across the nation.
The study analyzed the percentage of men and women over 18 who reported heavy or binge drinking in each state's metropolitan areas, then singled out the city or metropolitan area with the highest rate.
Through their findings, they found the drunkest city in Texas to be Sherman-Denison! With a population of 143,131 people, 24/7 Tempo. found that 21.1% of residents "drink excessively," which they interpret to be "consuming five or more drinks on one occasion for men or four or more drinks for women."
Nationwide, Texas ranks in the middle as the 25th drunkest state, with 18.6% drinking "excessively." Wisconsin came in as the drunkest state at 26.1% of its population.
