Coppell-based Smoothie King has entered into a partnership with Heinz Ketchup to release, what else, a ketchup-flavored smoothie!

The companies are billing the new drink as "the first-ever ketchup-based smoothie," and we have to believe there's a reason for that.

Evidently, the idea came from "thousands" of people asking the question: If a tomato is a fruit, is ketchup a smoothie?  The two companies decided to partner up and settle the debate.

Lori Primavera, vice president of research & development and product marketing at Smoothie King said in a press release, "After months of meticulous R&D, testing, and tasting, we landed on a savory-sweet blend that celebrates the tomato in all its glory."

According to per WFAA, the Heinz Tomato Ketchup Smoothie "blends acai sorbet, apple juice, strawberries, raspberries and the taste of Heinz Simply Ketchup.

The companies promise that the result is "a sweet and fruity smoothie with a bright, tangy ketchup finish."

The smoothie is currently available for purchase at locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Miami and parts of New York and New Jersey.
