The 2023 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has come to a close, but not before naming a grand champion steer. This year, there were nearly 1,500 contestants, but one stood out above the rest. The 1,343 pound steer was named “Snoop Dog” and received a bid that shattered the previous record.

This year’s 2023 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo grand champion steer was one for the record books, as the black European Cross was sold for $440,000. The steer was brought to the stock show by 15-year-old girl, Sadie Wampler, from the Randall County 4-H in the Texas Panhandle. She will get all the proceeds from the sale.

According to WFAA, the record breaking bid far surpassed the previous record of $310,000. Now, the rights to the champion steer belong to Higginbotham. Hopefully next year a new steer comes along that can top “Snoop Dog.”
