Even though the state of Texas has filed a lawsuit against five cities regarding the laws over marijuana decriminalization, that isn't stopping Spec's Wine & Spirits from investing in a brand-new product from Kentucky-based hi Seltzer.
And we're guessing calling it "high Seltzer" would have been a little bit too literal, as hi Seltzer is Spec's first cannabis-infused seltzer.
Per the Dallas Morning News, hi Seltzer is available in all Spec's stores and comes in five different flavors: Watermelon, Pineapple, Real Cherry, Lemon Lime, and Wild Berry.
Spec's is able to sell hi Seltzer due to the Federal Farm Bill of 2018, which allows hemp-infused products legal for retail as long as they do not exceed 0.3% delta-9 THC by weight. hi Seltzer has just 5 milligrams of hemp-derived delta-8 THC.
Lisa Rydman-Lindsay, co-owner and General Partner for Spec's Wines, Spirits and Finer Foods, said, "We are ahead of the curve and that's how we like it. The emergence of this category has been such an interesting one. We see this as a way to legitimize the new part of our industry.
She also added that hi Seltzer was "the first product we found that actually tasted good too."
Since rolling out around Thanksgiving, Lou Police, a founder and CEO of hi Seltzer, says that Texas is "already our No. 1 state. We're sending truckloads there."
