We all know Las Vegas as "Sin City," but Dallas appears to be gaining a similar reputation.
A new study from WalletHub found Dallas to be 9th-most sinful city in the nation, with the rankings determined by, amongst other factors, "violent crimes per capita to excessive drinking and the number of entertainment establishments per capita."
Chip Luho, an analyst for WalletHub, explained, "Regardless of any particular religious tenets, certain activities are considered 'sinful' by society as a whole. Sometimes, these activities are always bad, like violent crimes or identity theft.
"In other cases, they may be relatively harmless in moderation but incredibly destructive when not kept under control, such as alcohol use or gambling. The most sinful cities are those where illicit activities and vices alike are the most widespread."
The ten most sinful cities according to the study are as follows:
1 – Las Vegas
2 – Houston
3 – Los Angeles
4- Atlanta
5 – Philadelphia
6 – Denver
7 – Phoenix
8 – Miami
9 – Dallas
10 – St. Louis
Of the 182 cities analyzed, 16 were found in Texas (including plenty in North Texas) which included Fort Worth (70), Garland (100), Arlington (104), Grand Prairie (106), Irving (114), and Plano (147).
