Superstitions may not make sense to everyone, but the people that believe in them tend to treat these beliefs as a matter of life and death. Whether it’s an item that brings good luck, avoiding things that bring bad luck or completing daily actions these superstitions make people feel safe. Apparently, this happens more in Texas than anywhere else, as a recent study named Texas as the most superstitious state.
When it comes to gambling, superstitions tend to run wild. That’s why gambling website BetMGM recently conducted a study to find the most superstitious state. The study surveyed people in all 50 states, asking them if they believe in superstitions, and what superstitions they practice. Each state was given a superstition score, and surprisingly the state with the highest score was one where gambling isn’t even legal, as Texas scored a 73.96 out of 100.
According to CW33, Texas’ favorite superstition are four-leaf clovers, while most in the state feel breaking a mirror will bring bad luck. The study also found many Texans believe knocking on wood will protect them against bad luck. Of course, many Texans believe it doesn’t get better than living in the Lone Star State, so maybe the superstitions are working.
