It may not feel like it recently, but Texas has a long history of professional sports success, more so than most other states in the nation.
New research from Lucky Rebel found that Texas is actually the third most successful sporting state in the US, behind only California and New York.
According to CW33, the rankings were determined by measuring major professional sports championships and Summer Olympic medals won by native athletes across all 50 states.
The top ten most successful sporting states include:
1 – California
2 – New York
3 – Texas
4 – Illinois
5 – Pennsylvania
6 – Ohio
7 – Massachusetts
8 – Michigan
9 – Florida
10 – Maryland
Texans have won 378 Summer Olympic Medals, the third-highest Olympic medal count of any state.
