Have you seen an abundance of tarantulas lately while out and about outside? If you're anywhere near Central Texas and have Arachnophobia, you might just want to stay inside the next couple of months.
According to KVUE, tarantula mating season has begun in Central Texas!
As the weather gets warmer, around May every year, tarantulas begin emerging from their underground hiding spot to breed.
And they're only just getting started, too. Tarantula mating season typically lasts through the end of July.
The most common type of tarantula in Texas is the Texas Brown Tarantula, and if we can take any solace in this fact, the Texas Brown Tarantula does have venom, but not enough to pose a serious threat to humans.
Still, we're going to do our best to avoid any tarantula this summer!
