It’s been a short run so far for Tesla robotaxis in Austin, but a run involved with a slew of incidents after recent reports reveal the vehicle have been involved in 14 crashes since launching last summer.
According to CBS News, the five most recent crashes occurred just in December and January.
No injuries were reported, though the crashes did result in some form of property damage where the robotaxis collided either with another vehicle or a fixed object.
Just weeks after launching last June, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it was investigating several incidents in which the robotaxis were filmed driving erratically, including driving down the wrong side of the road.
Tesla is planning to launch robotaxis in seven U.S. cities in the first half of 2026 and expects the service to roll out in half of U.S. states by the end of the year.
