Last week we learned that cows at three dairies in the Texas Panhandle had been confirmed to have contracted the bird flu.

Now, the disease has spread to humans.

An unidentified Texas person has been diagnosed with bird flu after coming into contact with one of the infected cows.  It's the first human case of bird flu in Texas, fand the second in the U.S.

According to NBC DFW, the only reported symptom from the victim was eye redness.  They are being treated with an antiviral drug.

Health officials are not concerned about a widespread outbreak and say the risk to the public is "low."

Officials didn't release any additional information about the infected Texan and did not reveal how they came into contact with the infected cows.
