There is very little more annoying than receiving a phone call only to find out it’s actually a robocall. It seems these days calls marked as “unknown caller” or “spam risk” are coming in more and more. Sadly for Texans, these calls will keep coming as a new report recently revealed Texans receive the second most robocalls in America.
Robocalls are an issue throughout the country, but here in Texas the number of calls continues to increase. According to CBS Texas, new data shows DFW received more than 30 million robocalls over the last month. The entire state of Texas received nearly 800 million of these calls in that same time frame.
Despite federal legislation to crack down on spoofing, scammers continue to use robocalls to attack multiple groups, but mostly the elderly and foreign students. Just last year about $65 billion was lost to scam robocalls. With no end for robocalls in sight, Texans may just have to continue trying to ignore these calls until something is done.
