Lawmakers in the Lone Star State are tired of the annual process of springing forward and falling back.
Several Texas lawmakers have filed legislation to eliminate Daylight Savings Time.
State Senator Judith Zaffirini of Laredo wants to adopt standard time year-round for Texas, telling the Texas Tribune, "The twice-a-year clock change is disruptive and unnecessary. Studies have linked these shifts to increased traffic accidents, negative health effects, and decreased productivity."
Sleep experts say adhering to standard time is healthier as it "it aligns more with the body's natural circadian rhythms," which are what regulate sleep-wake cycles.
Texas is currently on standard time, and we are scheduled to spring forward into daylight savings on March 9.
