Baseball and softball players thrive on superstitions.

From never touching the foul line when running onto the field to eating the same meal every day before a game, these athletes will perform the most insane rituals in the most structured of ways with the belief that their ability will suffer if they don’t.

University of Texas softball player Hannah Wells might have the strangest one of all.

Since childhood, for good luck, Wells eats ladybugs.

Per BroBible, ESPN’s Holly Rowe reported from the College World Series, ““She has a superstition dating back to childhood that if she sees a ladybug, she eats it for good luck. Swallows it whole,” Rowe said. “I was told that at the SEC Tournament in Kentucky, she had a nice home run, and she had ingested a ladybug before that…”

The University of Texas will be taking on Texas Tech in the finals of the Women’s College World Series. The series begins Wednesday, June 3.
