The falls in Wichita Falls have been turned off.
The city says temporarily, but it’s still an odd site for residents used to seeing the man-made waterfall, which has flowed since the 1980s just off I-44, dry and turned completely off.
The original falls washed away in the 1800s during a flood, but the city built the new falls in the late ‘80s and connected the cascade to Lucy Park,
According to WFAA, officials say the waterfall has been closed for maintenance and "an evaluation of the overall structure.” It is not clear when the waterfall will be turned back on, but the city says the falls "will need to remain off indefinitely until a long-term solution and plan have been developed," thanks to the overall condition of the structure.
