Many music fans were shocked a few weeks back when Paul McCartney renewed the rivalry between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, calling the Stones “a blues cover band.” Now, another iconic band has been added to the battle of the bands, calling out the Stones music as well. In a recent interview, The Who’s Roger Daltrey said the Rolling Stones were “a mediocre pub band.”

Roger Daltrey has never been shy about letting his opinion be known, and apparently he has some strong feelings about the Rolling Stones. According to NME, Daltrey was recently asked about The Who’s history, along with their contemporaries, and while the frontman praised Mick Jagger saying “You’ve got to take your hat off to him. He’s the number one rock ‘n’ roll performer,” the praise quickly ended there. “If you were outside a pub and you heard that music coming out of a pub some night, you’d think, ‘Well, that’s a mediocre pub band!'” said Daltrey.

Many fans were shocked by these comments, as it once again started the debate over who the greatest band of all-time is. There has been no reaction from the Rolling Stones at this time, but like with the McCartney comments; they will likely respond while performing. Maybe one day all these legends will get along.
