There's no shortage of amazing state parks in Texas but there's always room for one more.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department just announced the purchase of a 1,100-acre swath of land in Lampasas and Burnet counties that they intend to use to develop a new state park!

According to the Dallas Morning News, the property is across the river from Colorado Bend State Park and includes 1.5 miles of Yancey Creek, limestone bluffs, and several natural springs.

A TPWD spokesperson said that the agency spent $12.1 million on the 1,100-acre property.

Rodney Franklin, director of Texas State Parks, is excited about the new park stating, "This acquisition will give visitors access to the Colorado River, a beautiful creek and the diverse landscapes that are featured across the property.

"We look forward to generations of Texans enjoying the scenic views of the unique post oak woodland and outdoor adventures awaiting on this property."

There is currently no timetable on an opening date for the park.
