Records are meant to be broken, but one that people rarely attempt to go after is the one for the world's longest fingernails. One of the grosser awards in the Guinness Book of World Record, the title has belonged to Texas' own Ayanna Williams since 2017. However, Williams recently decided to give up her title, cutting her fingernails for the first time in almost 30 years.

Ayanna Williams stopped cutting her nails in the early 90's, but now 28 years later she decided to go back to having normal use of her hands again. When she finally cut her nails over the weekend, the final measurement was at 24 feet, 0.7 inches. "It's gonna be awesome. It's going to be like a wax of myself even though it's just my nails. I can't wait to see that, for real. I'm going to be grinning from ear to ear," said Williams.

According to Fox News, the record breaking nails will be going to the 'Ripley's Believe It or Not!' Museum in Orlando, Florida. While some think the nails should end up in the trash, plenty are excited to see the record breaking nails in person. For the next person looking for the title of world's longest fingernails, they have a long way to go.
