It was a celebration of the Allman Brothers Band on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

The surviving members of the last line-up reunited for an epic night of music to celebrate the legendary Southern rockers’ 50th anniversary.

Guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, bassist Oteil Burbridge, drummer Jaimoe Johanson and percussionist Marc Quinones performed as The Brothers. They were joined by keyboardist Chuck Leavell for several songs. His playing is prominent on the studio version of “Jessica” and other Allmans tracks. Drummer Duane Trucks and organist Reese Wyans rounded out the line-up.

The Brothers jammed to the tune of 24 songs on the night, retracing the Allman’s history and influences. The first set included “Statesboro Blues” and “Revival.” The second set was highlighted by classics like “Melissa” and “Blue Sky,” and the two encores were “Midnight Rider” and “Whipping Post.”

“It’s a way of honoring 50 years of the band and honoring Duane, Gregg, Berry and Butch and the music they created,” Haynes said when the concert was announced. “That music deserves a 50th anniversary celebration.
Most rock bands never thought they’d even see their 50th anniversary. And, of course, this one didn’t. So in a way, this brings some sort of closure.”
