Students were evacuated from two South Bay Catholic schools – Mountain View's St. Francis High School San Jose's Presentation High School – following separate bomb threats from the same phone number on Tuesday.
St. Francis, located at 1885 Miramonte Ave., received the first threat just after 12:30 p.m., Mountain View police tweeted. Officials conducted a "methodical search of the campus" to determine whether the area is safe.
Families picked up students at nearby Cuesta Park. Police later clarified that "rumors of a potential active shooter are completely unfounded."
"We are currently working to determine the credibility of the threat," police said, adding they "are in constant communication with school officials to help ensure the safety of students and staff."
St. Francis is home to roughly 1,700 students.
Shortly before 2 p.m., San Jose police tweeted that a second bomb threat from the same phone number was called in at Presentation, an all-girls school about 15 miles west of St. Francis. That school campus was also evacuated while officers swept all buildings for explosives.
Los Altos High School, which is also nearby, dealt with a bomb threat last Friday. Students were also evacuated from that campus.
It was not immediately clear if authorities were able to trace the calls.
