A person walking on the train tracks in Mountain View was hit and killed by a train Monday morning, according to a Twitter thread posted by Caltrain.
The victim, who was trespassing on the tracks, was hit at approximately 10:56 a.m., by a southbound train, number 112, at Rengstorff Avenue just before the San Antonio Station, Caltrain reported.

This led to major delays for trains on both sides of the tracks as emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
There were approximately 30 passengers on board the train. No injuries were reported, according to an emailed statement from Caltrain spokesperson Dan Lieberman.
At 11:13 a.m., Mountain View police confirmed the incident on Twitter, adding that the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office would be handling the investigation.
At 11:37 a.m., one of the tracks was reopened to restricted speed.
The victim's identity has not yet been released. This is Caltrain's first fatality of 2022.
The cause of death and identification will be determined by the Coroner's Office. "No matter what the circumstances, it is always regrettable when a life is lost," said Lieberman. "Caltrain reminds everyone to be safe around train tracks."
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office did not respond to KCBS Radio's request for comment at the time of publication.
