There’s even more rain in the forecast for the Bay Area this coming week, but the weather is still going to be a lot milder than the recent destructive winter storm.
Coming out of a week of stormy weather, a forecast of yet more rain may be a touch unwelcome for some, but National Weather Service Meteorologist Matt Mehle said there’s nothing to fear.
“This next round of rain will definitely be more on the beneficial side and less on the problematic side like what we just went through,” he told KCBS Radio.
The rain system is expected to arrive from the North and then pass through the Bay Area Monday and Tuesday.
The good news is that while the last round of stormy weather triggered mudslides and road collapse along the Central Coast, Mehle said that’s not likely this time.
“Fortunately, though, right now it does not appear that the rainfall rates will be overly intense,” he noted. “That’s usually one of the trigger points that we watch for.”
The less good news, however, is that all the rainy weather is not going to make up for this winter’s dry start.
Looking into the long-term forecast, Mehle is seeing a lot of dry days ahead.
“That’s not a good sign if we’re looking for long-term recovery,” he noted.
