PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh police responded to a beeping sound coming from a US Postal Service mailbox in Brighton Heights Tuesday morning.

When officers arrived on the scene they heard the beeping sound and called the Bomb Squad.

Brighton Road and Benton Avenue were closed off with multiple other roads in the area shutdown.

Residents were asked to shelter in place while the investigation took place.

A remotely operated Bomb Squad robot was deployed and it was determined the beeping was coming from a mail scanning device that a postal had left in the box.

The beeping indicated a low battery and was not a threat.

All roads around the area were reopened by 8:20 a.m.
