PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Allegheny County Hazmat crews are working to contain a spill in Millvale Tuesday afternoon.
It is reported in the area of Evergreen Avenue, with initial reports of nearly 200 gallons of an un-specified chemical spilled.
It started when a 200 gallon container fell off the back of a truck.
James A. Machajewski tells KDKA Radio the bisulfate that spilled can cause respiratory problems.
“The spill is contained, cleanup is on way, we have some people still in a block and a half area that are evacuated until cleanup is done,” said Machajewski.
No one was hurt and residents were bused to a local fast food restaurant.
Traffic is blocked in the area but crews expect to have the area cleaned by this evening.
