PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - By now you probably know that brutally cold weather is on its way to Pittsburgh and AccuWeather’s Elliot Abrams tells Larry and John temperatures will drop to dangerous levels.
Since a high of 42 at 2 a.m., temperatures have dropped steadily and will level off in the low 20s Tuesday afternoon.
Abrams tells KDKA Radio temperatures will then take a nosedive.

“Temperatures will drop down toward zero (Tuesday) tonight, stay there tomorrow, single digits, drop a few degrees below zero tomorrow night then start a slow recovery Thursday and the recovery then lasts through Sunday and Monday. Could be in the 40s by Monday afternoon, could feel like springtime,” said Abrams.
Low temperatures and high wind chills will pose a risk for frost bite starting Wednesday morning. The National Weather Serivce has issued a Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 5 a.m. Wednesday until 5 p.m. Thursday.
“(Tuesday) morning it’s going to be about minus 2 minus (or) 3 degrees and the wind will be blowing 10-15 mph and frost bite will be possible within 7 to 10 minutes,” said Abrams.
Abrams adds that the AccuWeather Real Feel will be well below zero for most of the day Wednesday with wind chills flirting around minus 20.
