PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Your participation in some popular social media trends could make you a target for fraud, according to the FBI Pittsburgh.

The FBI says that while the activities can seem like fun, they can also reveal password security retrieval information.

Examples such as the high school support photo trend, sharing pictures of your first car, dicussing your first concert, favorite restaurant - even tagging your mother in posts - can make it easier for fraudsters to guess the asnwers to security questions to your online accounts.

The FBI suggests you consider the negative impacts of sharing personal information on social media before participating in such trends and also reminds you to check your security settings of your accounts to be sure they're set properly and, if available, enable two-factor or multi-factor authentication methods.

Cyber fraud can be reported to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.IC3.gov.
