PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — Governor Tom Wolf says climate change is real, and that Pennsylvania needs to do something about it while maintaining jobs.
He tells KDKA Radio’s John Shumway the commonwealth needs to find a balance.
"We need to have the light weight products that come out of say the cracker plant in the west but we also need to make sure that as we move forward, we have an environment that isn’t going to kill us,” said Wolf.
The governor says that means stricter regulations.
“This is about making sure that we have the things we need to get from where we are to where we need to be with that sustainable energy future," said Wolf. "We do it right and that we take advantage of the natural resources we have here."
Pennsylvania adopted the Paris Climate Accord after President Trump withdrew the United States from the agreement.
Earlier this month joined the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative that Wolf says will help reduce energy costs and the state’s economy.
