Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank To Host Food Service In Wilkinsburg

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

WILKINSBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will be having a food distribution service in Wilkinsburg on Saturday, August 29.

Food distribution will start at 11 a.m. and discontinue at 1 p.m.

Service will be given to drivers at the intersection of North Trenton and Penn Avenue.

State Representative Ed Gainey implored Wilkinsburg residents to use the distribution service to their advantage.

"I want to make sure everyone who needs this knows that this is happening, especially our families and seniors who are struggling during this pandemic," Gainey said.

"I also want to express my deep gratitude to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, and the volunteers and partner organizations who are making this happen.

"If there is one thing that has inspired me during this summer, it's seeing folks take care of each other through events like this."

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is also looking for volunteers to offer their time and effort to help control traffic and load food into vehicles.

The Food Bank is asking for reservations for those who are planning on using the service.

There are not any prerequisites for eligibility.
