PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - City leaders have come to an agreement with two groups on a plan to make the Hill House financially viable.
City councilman Daniel Lavelle says the plan relies on half a million dollars to keep the Hill House afloat until May 31st.
“The Hill District Growth Fund is going to provide and infusing of cash to the Hill House associateion to allow them to be able to continue on a monthly basis," said Lavelle
Between now and then, the Urban Redevelopment will request proposals for the purchase of four Hill House properties including the main building on Center Avenue.
The community will have a say in rating those bids. Ultimately, a judge will pick the winning bid.
JT Thomas, Former Steeler and owner of a Crazy Mocha on Center Avenue in the Hill District, tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes Freeland that one of Hill House problems is they only have two tenants.
Thomas says even though Hill House has received funding for operations it has nothing to do with the shopping center that houses his Crazy Mocha; he is waiting to see what happens.
