
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – A fatal accident occurred inside the Armstrong Tunnel on Wednesday morning.
According to a police report, Police, EMS, and firefighters were called around 9:45 a.m. on January 1st after a single vehicle collision happened on the inbound side of the tunnel.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a female victim inside the car. They attempted to revive the female, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other passengers or vehicles were involved.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the woman has been identified as 57-year-old Barbara Ann McMillin of South Side.
A utility box was also struck during the collision, causing issues to the traffic lights at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 10th Street.
The Armstrong Tunnel was closed in both directions for a period of time on Wednesday, but has been reopened.
