PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — People in Allegheny County are getting scam calls asking for money and making threats of arrest.

The number that comes up on caller ID is a Allegheny County Police phone but it's being spoofed by the scammer.

In one instance, the caller requested money from a woman for prepaid calling cards, telling her she would be arrested if she didn't.

Allegheny County Police say they never solicit by phone. If you get a scam call, hang up and then call 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
