PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh area restaurants are preparing for the next stage of reopening business one week from today.
Outdoor dining will be allowed for the first time since last fall when the weather turned cold.
Occupancy is limited to 50 percent of the posted number of six feet between diners at different tables.
Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association president John Longstreet.
“Most of these restaurants have been open preparing food for takeout and delivery but they haven’t been serving so they’re bringing servers back in, they’re making sure their tables are set up appropriately for physical distancing,” said Longstreet.
Longstreet adds the PA Liquor Control Board is making it easier to serve alcohol in expanded outdoor areas.
“They’re going to expedite the expansion of premises permit normally which would take at least a month to make it almost instantaneous so that will help a lot as well,” said Longstreet.
Masks must be worn at all times by servers and customers must wear masks as they enter and exit any indoor space.
Indoor dining opens in the green phase with the same occupancy limits and spacing in bar areas.
