PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher credits his Pittsburgh upbringing and his 15 seasons with the Steelers for making him the kind of coach and person worthy of Hall of Fame induction.
The Crafton native and Carlynton grad told Larry Richert on KDKA Radio Friday morning, “There’s a grittiness, there’s a determination, there’s a pride-ness that goes with doing the right thing, surrounding yourself with the right people and holding yourself accountable for whatever takes place,”
Cowher adds that his 15 seasons with the Steelers were about more than just football.
“I became a better coach, but I also became a husband, a better father . . . just a better person when I left there because of guys like Dan Rooney, Art Rooney and the culture that they had down in that building.”
Cowher learned of his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction last weekend while on the set of The NFL Today on CBS.
Cowher led the Steelers to their 5th Super Bowl Championship
