PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Carnegie Mellon University is reporting that someone who was on their campus last week may have COVID-19
In a press release, the university says the person was having “flu-like symptoms” and that they alerted campus officials proactively.
The person has not been on campus since March 11 and has begun self-isolation.
Carnegie Mellon has been in contact with the Allegheny County Health Department but the person has yet to be tested for coronavirus.
“Out of an abundance of caution, those identified by this individual who may have had close contact have been notified and asked to self-isolate,” the release states. “They will return to campus after their self-isolation is complete and only if they are symptom-free. For reasons of health privacy, the university is not able to share additional details.”
The University has also announced they have cleaned and disinfected the areas where the person worked.
If it becomes a confirmed COVID-19 case, the university will notify students and staff immediately.
