Postal Carrier Charged With Voter Fraud In West Virginia

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A West Virginia postal carrier is charged with attempted election fraud after mail-in requests for absentee ballots had altered party affiliations.

According to a criminal complaint, the man charged is 47-year-old Thomas Cooper of Pendleton County, WV.


An investigation found five ballot requests were changed from Democrat to Republican and three Republican requests had marking in both blue and black ink.

According to an affidavit Cooper admitted to the fraud during an interview with an investigator in the West Virginia Attorney General's Office.

According to the 2010 census Pendleton County's population is 7,695, the fifth least populous county in the state.
