HARRISBURG (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The Pennsylvania Utility Commission is considering a 14 percent rate increase for Peoples Natural Gas customers.

If approved, most residential customers would see an increase of $10 to $15 on their monthly bills.

Two public comment hearings will be held in Monroeville later this month:

Tuesday, April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Richland Township Fireman’s Banquet Hall (1321 Scalp Ave., Johnstown, PA 15904) and Wednesday, April 24 at 6 p.m. at the CCAC Boyce Campus Performance Hall (595 Beatty Rd., Monroeville, PA 15146).

Members of the public are welcome to attend and give comment for the PUC to consider in their decision, that will be made by October 29.

Here are some tips for those who wish to make comments, provided by the PUC:

Prepare what you are going to say beforehand. Even though it is not required, you may want to write out your statement, which can be read.

Bring copies if you are attending an in-person hearing. If you have a written statement you would like to give to the judge, please bring two copies for the court reporter and several copies for the other participants.

Understand that parties in the case may want to ask you a question to clarify something you said.

Anyone with special needs attending the hearing should call the PUC scheduling office at 717-787-1399 at least five business days prior to make arrangements.

For people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, the AT&T Relay Service number is 1-800-654-5988.
