PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Transportation Security Administration officers at Pittsburgh International Airport have prevented another loaded gun from going on an airplane.

On Friday, the TSA stopped a West Newton man at a security checkpoint who had a 9 mm handgun loaded with five bullets in his carry-on bag.

Allegheny County Police responded to the scene and allowed the man to return the gun to his car, but he still faces “stiff” federal penalties.

The gun marked the second stopped by agents at Pittsburgh International in four days.

On August 4, a Fayette County man was stopped at a checkpoint with a gun loaded with six bullets.

The typical first offense for having a loaded handgun at a checkpoint is $4,100.

10 guns have been stopped by agents so far at Pittsburgh International this year.
