Two shot, one dead in separate weekend shootings in Pittsburgh

Two people have been shot leaving one man dead after shootings in Pittsburgh over the weekend. Shots were also fired in another area.

A 28-year-old man was gunned down early Sunday in Carrick, on a porch behind Sophie's Saloon in the 1900 block of Brownsville Road.

Police responded to the shooting around 1:30 a.m. Officers found Cole Kerns dead with gunshot wounds in the head and shoulder.

A witness says Kerns punched a man who responded by shooting Kerns two times before running away. Anyone with information about the shooter is asked to call Pittsburgh Police at 911.

In Mount Oliver, a man was shot on the 220 block of Brownsville Road.

Police found the man with a gunshot wound to the back. He conscious and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The victim say he may have been shot within city limits.

There were also reports of shots fired in Perry South on Saturday just before noon.

Police say the shots were fired in the area of Chest Avenue/Holyoke Street and Elsdon Street.

39 shell casings were found but no one was reportedly shot.

Witnesses tell police that six people, possibly juveniles were seen fleeing the scene on foot.
