Three people are facing felony charges and more after an incident involving a severe dog bite.

Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli's office says Alexis Keys, Ida and Michael Stankiewicz, all of Vandergrift were charged on Thursday after a 3-year-old was bitten by a dog on May 19.

When officers responded they found the mother (Keys) sitting on a back porch covered in blood.

"Keys told officers the child was in the attic," the DA's office said. "When officers asked her to take them to the child, she started screaming about removing the dog."

After a few minutes they were led inside the residence. Upon entering, police found the dog being held by the girl's grandfather, Michael Stankiewicz.

The girl as found on a third-flood bedroom "screaming and covered in blood."

Police say they asked Keys to grab her daughter and take her outside, she told officers she was not going to touch her and only picked her up after police tried themselves.

The girl had a large cut on the back of her head and was becoming pale. She was flown to UPMC Children's Hospital for treatment.

Police say Ida Stankiewicz was the person that called 911, but did not offer any medical aid.

Vandergrift Police say the same dog bite Keys' other child in 2023. That child also had to be flown to the hospital.

All three are charged with endangering the welfare of children.
