39 new COVID related deaths reported in Allegheny County on Friday, 364 new cases

The Allegheny County Health Department reported 39 new COVID-19 related deaths on Friday. In addition, the department said there were 364 new cases of the virus reported in the last 24 hour period.

On Thursday, the county reported 135 new deaths, but blamed a backlog at the state level on such a large number for one 24 hours reporting period.

Since March of 2020, the county has had 68,809 cases, 4,221 hospitalizations and 1,451 deaths.

Roll out of the Coronavirus vaccine within the county and the state has not been as fast as officials and the public would have hoped. Some county residents have received cancelation notices of appointments to receive the COVID vaccine due to a lack of vaccine supplies.
