Dreaming of a white Christmas? The likelihood of having one depends on where you are.

AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg tells KDKA Radio he's expecting some snowfall across the area after midnight Tuesday, lasting until daybreak in the morning, bringing with it some light accumulations, about a coating to a half an inch or so.

But, that snow likely won’t stick around with temperatures rising into the upper 30s on Christmas Eve.

“Whatever we get may just melt and may not be much left of it by the end of the day (Tuesday),” said Lundberg. “So, unfortunately our chances of seeing a White Christmas may not be very high.”

He says at this point in time, he'd put the chances of the Pittsburgh metro area of having a White Christmas in the 30 percent range, more than 50 percent in the higher elevations to the east and north

In the Laurel Highlands, the chances jump to more like 70 or 80 percent.

If you have more than an inch on the ground by Tuesday morning, you’ll likely have just enough snow to have a White Christmas.

Christmas Day is expected to be mostly clouding with a high near 40.

Then, by the weekend, we’ll be in the mid-50s and flirting with 60 on Sunday.
