PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) At least 200 people have grown ill following multiple events at the Marriott Hotel in Coraopolis.
According to the Allegheny County Health Department, they are investigating reports of gastrointestinal illness after three large events from April 2 and 3.
The Marriott has stated that they continue to deep clean all areas to protect against both norovirus and coronavirus, and will continue to do so through the investigation.
The three events to feel the effects of the sickness was a bridal shower that saw 70 people grow sick within 36 hours.
80 more people reported falling ill after a wedding that same night.
The next day a South Fayette High School football team banquet the following day saw a similar fate as the previous events.
A pair of players from the team reported feeling sick, not being able to eat or drink, and lost over 10 pounds after attending the banquet.
The health department's food safety program has completed an investigation at the hotel but are continuing researching the illness.
