
The number of people biking in Pittsburgh is going up, with increased traffic on the city's trails and neighborhood roads.
As people return in greater numbers to their jobs, the number of people commuting on bikes is going up.
The pandemic unfolded at the same time the city released the first bike plan in 20 years, in June of 2020.
Now that COVID cases are lower, Kim Lucas, Assistant Director for Planning, Policy and Permitting points to the city's network of trails along the rivers.
"You can commute from North Side neighborhoods to downtown or you can commute from Pittsburgh all the way to Washington, D.C. on those trails.
They've seen increases on the Healthy Ride system, a local non-profit bike-sharing program, more evidence people have increased biking in Pittsburgh.
