Allegheny County's Board of Elections voted 2-1 to set up four satellite voting offices for this year's General Election.

These offices would allow someone to register to vote, get a mail in ballot and return it, all at the same time.

Republican Board of Elections Member Sam DeMarco cast the lone no vote, citing concerns about the costs.

He says the labor alone would cost $40,000 and would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in total.

Then there's verifying that the person showing up is eligible to vote.

“The state does not permit you to have poll watchers or authorized representatives or observers in any of these satellite voting offices,” said DeMarco.

He encourages all voters to use whatever legal ways there are to vote, but he calls the satellite offices a bridge too far.
