Candidate for Plum Mayor dies

A candidate for Mayor of Plum Borough has reportedly died.

According to WTAE's Dave Kaplan, 40-year-old Shawn Marcellino died at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville after collapsing while playing softball Tuesday.

Marcellino was the Democratic nominee and was set to run against current Mayor Harry Schlegel this fall.

Marcellino, a life-long resident of Plum, grew up in the borough's Holiday Park neighborhood. He was a 1999 graduate of Plum High School.

Tributes to Marcellino from friends and supporters have been shared on social media.
