Car crashes into building on West Liberty Avenue

A vehicle went into a building on West Liberty Avenue right near the Liberty Tunnels early Monday morning.

Pittsburgh Public safety says police, fire and EMS responded to the scene on the 1400 block of West Liberty Avenue around 12:30 a.m.

A vehicle was traveling inbound when it the driver lost control and hit Nova’s Tire & Auto.

The driver was trapped and needed to be rescued.

That driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but was later upgraded to stable.

A passenger had internal injuries and a broken femur. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Neither of the people in the car were wearing seatbelt and weather is not believed to be a factor.

An investigation is underway to find the cause.
