PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Sure to be an essential board game in every Pittsburgh household, Monopoly announced a new version of their famous family past time.
The new official Monopoly game will be centered on the City of Pittsburgh, its landmarks, and local favorite locations.
"There is perhaps no board game more iconic than Monopoly, which is why it's no surprise with so many iconic landmarks in Pittsburgh that the city will soon have its own Monopoly game," County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said. "I don't envy the decision makers as there will be so many suggestions to choose from."
To make it even more local, Pittsburghers are encouraged to submit locations they believe should be on the board.
Business owners as well as the general public are encouraged to send in their suggestions for Pittsburgh-themed squares to pittsburgh@toptrumps.com.
Suggestions should be in by March 30.
"From the Steel Tower to the Sister Bridges, to Carnegie Museums and the August Wilson Center, Pittsburgh isn't short of iconic locations to visit and enjoy," Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey said.
Naming options for "Community Chest" and "Chance" are also open so every detail of the game can be Pittsburgh-centric.
Surely local staples like Primanti Bros. and the inclines will make appearances on the gaming board.
The official Pittsburgh Monopoly will be unveiled this fall.
"We expect to be spoiled for choice with all the tons of options Pittsburgh has to feature on the game," Dennis Gavagen of Hasbro Games said.
